This upcoming gala marks the 42nd anniversary of the annual fundraiser for the college. Funds raised at the black-tie affair go towards programs at Keyano. This includes academics, sports, theatre, trade programs and capital projects. Last year’s gala featured performers Calleigh Cardinal and Loverboy.

“It is an opportunity for alumni, friends, and supporters of the college to come together to celebrate higher education,” said Chantal Beaver, Keyano’s associate vice president of strategy and business transformation.

Kissel, who was raised on a ranch in St. Paul, Alta., has won 18 Canadian Country Music Association awards, three Junos, and gold and platinum plaques for his more popular tracks.

This year he is releasing four albums in what is being called the Compass Project. The first album, South Album, was released in January. Kissel described the album in a statement following its release as having “the heartbeat of Nashville pulsing through.”

This release will be followed with East Album, described as a “coastal-inspired” record. West Album will be a traditional country music album that pays tribute to Kissel’s Alberta roots. North Album is billed as a live album and billed as a tribute to his fans.
